Newborn Baby Toys

Newborn babies are little bundles of joy that bring happiness to the family and the household. And all of us want to make sure that babies, just as much as they bring happiness and cheer to us, are cheered up as well. And the best way to do this is, you guessed it, with toys! Most parents, aunts, and siblings would be very tempted to just get the nearest fancy toy out there, but there are a number of things that need to be considered before buying newborn baby toys, in order to ensure baby safety, and baby fun, at all times.

Here are some factors that need to be considered:

1.) Material – When buying baby toys, make sure that the materials are non-toxic. Toddlers will do almost everything to their toys, from sleep beside them, to teethe on them. Read the labels and instructions and manuals to make sure that there are no dangerous chemicals used in the making of the toy. Some of the best baby toys are non-toxic, so finding these is a good step.

2.) Size, Shape, and Color – It doesn’t matter if the toys are made of non-toxic and safe materials, if they have a harmful shape and a size that make them susceptible to being swallowed. When selecting toys, avoid those that have sharp corners and edges, and those that are small, like buttons and pebbles. This will ensure that the toys stay in the baby’s hands, and out of the mouth. In addition, brightly colored toys can help the baby practice his/her ability to see and track things, as well as how to react to them. Look for colorful toys that have safe shapes and good sizes.

3.) Durability – As mentioned earlier, babies will do almost everything with their toys, including things that might run the risk of damaging or destroying them. Get a toy that’s durable, not just so the toy has a longer life, but so that there will be no small parts that can be swallowed or go into the baby’s eyes. For example, a newborn baby doll may have arms that can easily be torn apart, revealing small fibers inside.

4.) Simple yet fun – Newborns have very young minds, and may not be able to appreciate more complicated toys. Just like getting newborn baby clothes, toys should be simple, yet fun and amusing for the baby.

5.) Physical and mental stimulation – Toys are not just for fun, they can also help form the fundamental skills of a baby. Simple puzzles, or toys that have movable parts can help form a baby’s hand-eye coordination, as well as promote his cognitive skills.

Remember these things when buying toys for the baby and you’re sure to give her all the fun, education, and safety she requires.
